Gipiemme was founded in Milano in 1964 by Giovanni Bernardi and became one of the legendary italian cycle manufacturers. Gipiemme started producing saddles, cranksets, botton brackets, hubs and pedal sets – the famous „Cronospecial Multiasse“ – derailleurs, free wheels, chains – the famous „Everest Racing Chain“. Beginning from the early 1980s, the company started the production of wheels for track and time trial, using the famous Alpina inox 18/8 „Aeralpina“ elliptical section spokes or the Alpina „Brillalpina“ zinc plated spokes.
1982 Gipiemme was the first company to develop a glass fibre wheel „lenticolare“, and 1984 the first company to create a carbon fibre wheel. 1999 Gipiemme was the first company to develop a CNC lightened wheel with grouped spokes „ a coppia-a terna-a quaterna“. All the rims, wheels and saddles made by Gipiemme are produced in Loria near Treviso.
